Volunteer Job Descriptions

2018 Dental Clinic

Event Set Up (Thursday)
Unload equipment and supplies. Some lifting will be required, but forklifts will move heaviest equipment.

Event Breakdown (Saturday p.m.)
Pack and reload equipment and supplies Saturday afternoon/evening. Some lifting will be required, but forklifts will move heaviest equipment.

Greet patients; assign patient numbers and distribute wristbands.

Patient Guide/Floater
Volunteers will be assigned to a specific area when they arrive at the Dental Clinic. These may include:

–Patient Greeter: Manage flow of patients as they enter the front door; hand out patient registration forms; escort patients to waiting areas.

–Patient Guide: Accompany patients throughout the treatment process from triage to anesthesia, restorative/surgery chairs, patient resource area and finally to check-out.

–Patient Hospitality: Help pass out water bottles and snacks to patients who are waiting to receive treatment.

Patient Charts
Collect and organize patient’s paperwork during check-out process. Good for detail-oriented people.

Social Worker
Assist patients during check-out with any social services they may be in need of. This position is reserved for licensed social workers.

Medical Triage
Meet with patients to take blood pressure and a general health history.

Capture photos of the event. Photographer must bring own equipment.

Interpreter (Spanish, ASL)
Assist non-English-speaking patients through the entire process from entry to exit.

Important Notes

–Every effort will be made to place general volunteers in the position requested. Final assignments may be affected by need and number of volunteers present. Please be flexible!

–If you registered to volunteer but find you will NOT be able to help, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing info@medworksusa.org.

–Volunteers who register with a valid email address will be emailed a volunteer information packet one week prior to the event with details on where and when to report, parking instructions, etc.
